No Excuses Writing

One of the biggest complaints I hear from want-to-be writers is that they don't have time to write. Today's prompt is designed to help you bury that excuse and lay it to rest. There's only one way to find time to write if you live a busy life, and that is to make room in your schedule.

The truth is that most people want big blocks of time to be able to write undisturbed...well for most of us, that's just not realistic. Instead, set a goal to write 20 minutes a day 4 days this coming week. And let me know how it goes!

It is going better since I decided that my imagination needed to take a more central place in my life. Maybe it should be up there with my stomach for example. I am writing something every day and taking at least thirty minutes. Here is something and an experiment putting it with music. http://davidnotes.com/2008/08/31/dreams/

Hi David,

I enjoyed your post very much. It's rich in sensory details that let me take a mental break from the computer and enjoy some time at the lake as a child. You're a gifted writer.

I couldn't agree more. I'm quite shocked at the number of would be writers that say they don't have the time. The only way to write is to sit down and do it. I recently posted about this very subject on my blog.

Thank you Donna. And now I am way outside my comfort zone and feel like an idiot. Is taking time off under those circumstances a good idea do you think?

Hi Anonymous,

Send me the link to your article. I'd like to read it and tell others about it.

Hi David,

You can take a break from the computer but it doesn't mean you need to take a break from writing. Going out for a walk is a great way to get the creative juices pumping and your imagination invigorated.

Is that what you're talking about?

Yes it is. Good thought. I can still write without sharing it with anyone. Probably should be doing this anyway.
